We wanted to update you on some important changes coming to the future of streaming in djay. Back in 2014, we introduced streaming integration to the djay community, a feature that has had a profound impact on DJing as a whole. Today, streaming has become an integral part of almost every DJ product with new streaming service providers innovating the space for aspiring and professional DJs alike. As far as Spotify in djay is concerned, it’s been a great journey, but soon it will be time to say farewell.
As of July 1, 2020 Spotify will no longer be playable through 3rd party DJ apps. You’ll still be able to use Spotify in djay until the end of June 2020. In the meantime, we’ve introduced new streaming services that will enable you to continue mixing all of the great music you love, plus give you extended access to new content and features. In addition, we’ve prepared steps for you to easily migrate your library to a new supported streaming service. Simply connect your DDJ-400 to your iPhone/iPad to play using the free version of djay for iOS.

Using your Spotify Premium account, you can instantly access millions of songs from within djay and use the controls on the DDJ-400 to mix the music. Speed it up, slow it down, loop, slice and add FX to put your own spin on each song. Then, mix from one track to the next to build sets and create your trademark sound. And don’t worry if you’re a complete newbie because the DDJ-400 is compatible with the Tutorial feature in rekordbox dj, which shows you step-by-step how to set up the controller and start mixing the music in your rekordbox library.

Simply connect your DDJ-400 to your iPhone/iPad to play using the free version of djay for iOS. According to Pioneer the DDJ-400 is a class compliant device, meaning it doesn't require drivers and can be plugged into anything. The same cannot be said about the DDJ-800/1000, so this is quite exciting as it means the only missing link is the software. In theory a cheap Android device could turn this controller into a standalone device.

To coincide with this software compatibility update, we’re also releasing the limited edition DDJ-400-S: a silver-colored version of the DDJ-400, which has been a hit with beginner DJs since its release in 2018. The new model in striking silver has an identical layout to the original black unit, making it easy to pick up the basics of mixing, and all the same features are at your fingertips. So, develop your skills at your own pace and see how far you can take DJing.

To use the DDJ-400 or DDJ-400-S with your iPhone or iPad, you’ll need a Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter, which is available separately.

To protect your DDJ-400 or DDJ-400-S from bumps and scrapes when you’re taking it to friends’ houses, parties or even gigs, we recommend carrying it in the DJC-B-WEGO3-BAG. Constructed with an EVA Durashock moulded body, ballistic polyester, fleeced lining, and eggshell foam, it’s a hard-wearing but lightweight solution with a snug fit.
