Assassin's Creed Valhalla Steam

Ubisoft today announced the latest Assassin’s Creed title: Valhalla. The latest game will not be available on Steam however, with Ubisoft choosing to partner exclusively with Epic Game Store for the release of its franchise title for 2020 – it will also be available on Uplay of course and via the Uplay+ subscription service.

The decision follows the same strategy with The Division 2. Ubisoft said last year that it would launch more titles in collaboration with Epic, but those titles were unannounced. Today’s unveiling makes Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla the first mainline entry in the franchise to not be available on Steam at launch.

  2. Will Assassin's Creed Valhalla ever be available on Steam? Hi, I know this is on Assassin's Creed Odyssey but, i'm just curious if the new Assassin's Creed will ever be on Steam? I know it was said (obviously now) that it won't be on Steam at launch, so (IF) it is gonna be on Steam when?? Or will it at all??

  4. Why Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Isn’t Coming To Steam Another game is skipping Steam, as Ubisoft plans to release Assassin's Creed Valhalla on the Uplay and Epic Games store only. By Brooke Nicholson Published Jun 06, 2020.

The game is also one of only a handful announced to be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X – with Microsoft’s console and logo taking the marketing lead on the announcement trailer. Xbox One and PS4 don’t miss out, though, with all current devices (bar the Switch obviously) receiving the game. A pattern that we’re likely to see for all major third=party releases this winter. The game is also coming to Stadia – unsurprising given Ubisoft’s strong support for the platform to date.

The Viking setting has been long-rumoured and was announced yesterday, via the medium of Photoshop. A lengthy livestream saw well-known digital artist Bosslogic creating a new piece of art in realtime to reveal the setting and name of the new game.

There’s no firm release date as of yet, stating only Holiday 2020.

“We can’t wait for players to experience the incredible Viking journey ahead of them,” said Ashraf Ismail, creative director of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. “Being in Eivor’s boots as both a Viking raider and a clan leader, players will face the conflicts of establishing a new home while in the midst of a power struggle for control of England.”

The new Assassin's Creed game has been officially revealed to be Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and there is a lot of information to take in. On top of the exact time period and locations that Valhalla will be covering, there have been some hardware-centric announcements.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla was fueled by speculation, but firm details are now emerging, like the Viking protagonist, who can be male or female— much like previous Assassin's Creed titles. A gameplay trailer is scheduled for next week, which will be the closest many get to playing the game for a long time.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Steam Release

As was expected, Valhalla will be releasing for the PS4 and the Xbox One, and it has also been confirmed that it will release for the PS5 and Xbox Series X when those consoles make their debut. The game will also be released for the PC, for such platforms as the Ubisoft Store, Stadia, and UPlay+. It will also be releasing for the Epic Games Store, but not for Steam. As of the writing of this article, there are no announced plans for Assassin's Creed Valhalla to release on Steam alongside its initial release or in the further future.

The reason for this is not clear, although Ubisoft has released exclusively through the Epic Games Store before. The problem is not so bad for console users, with Xbox owners even being assured Valhalla has Smart Delivery for the Xbox Series X, but PC users are often loath to leave their favorite virtual storefront for any reason, so this will likely ruffle many feathers.

This news may come as a surprise to some, since it was not long ago that a list of achievements for Valhalla was reportedly leaked on 4chan. Those achievements were for the Xbox version of the game though, and it looks like they will not be carrying over to Steam, as sometimes happens between platforms. However, that list no longer seems to be available, and the leak was somewhat dubious in the first place.

Whether Assassin's Creed Valhalla will eventually come to Steam or not remains to be seen, but if it does, it will likely be in the far future, after the initial release hype has died down somewhat. Even then, whether or not the Gold, Ultimate, and Collector's editions will be available, either on Steam or the Epic Games Store, is anyone's guess.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be releasing during the 2020 holiday season for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It will also release for the PS5 and Xbox Series X when those consoles release.
